Mac Sudo Password
Resetting MySQL Root Password on Mac OS tutorial. Dev3 Use case: You're logging into your MySQL Workbench app on your Mac OS and on the first startup. Workbench requires a Root Password. If you've misplaced it, there's a quick process to dig through. Click the magnifying glass on the top right and search for it first! Last time I got my Mac and set root password on it. After a while I forgot the password when I need to set the system. Luckily, I found the easy step to reset the password without mac osx boot dvd. Today I’ll share how to reset root password (or any user password) on Mac OSX with simple step. NOTE: I tried this on Mac OSX Snow leopard. Open the Directory Utility from /System/Library/CoreServices or in OS X 10.11 and later, System/Library/CoreServices/Applications. Click the lock button and authenticate as an administrator: Go to the menu Edit Change root password. Click, then enter an administrator name and password. Click Login Options. Click Join (or Edit). Click Open Directory Utility. Click in the Directory Utility window, then enter an administrator name and password. From the menu bar in Directory Utility: Choose Edit Enable Root User, then enter the password that you want to use for the root user. In light of the recent security concerns with macOS that allows anyone to easily gain root access (https://9to5mac.com/2017/11/28/how-to-set-root-password/).

Root Password For Macbook
I have just switched to Mac, from Windows and Linux. I have had my new Mac (a Power Mac G5, OS X 10.4.6) for about a week now. Today, for the first time, I tried out sudo and just su itself. Trouble in paradise...
su prompted me for a password. At no time during the set up of this Mac was I ever asked to enter a root password - I had hoped it simply hadn't been set, and typing 'su' would just log me in as root. Is there a default password that all Macs come with that I can use? Alternately, is there some way of setting the root password at this point?
For sudo, once I get past being able to log in as root, I will need to find the Mac OS X equivalent of what in Linux would be /etc/sudoers. Where does this live on the Mac?
Thanks!
